Online Photography Classes in Houston

A local fixture since 1981, the Houston Center for Photography highlights photography through displays and fun classes in Houston. Skilled teachers lead every session. The Center offers exciting online photography classes for all experience levels. Here are three classes that you can take from our Houston apartments:

Camera Basics (March 20 & 21)

During Camera Basics, you’ll learn how to use your camera to show off your creative side. Teacher Erin Neve will guide you through shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. She’ll also cover white space and the benefits of shooting raw photos. For class, you’ll need a manual or digital camera, a pen and paper.

DIY Lighting for Photography (April 6, 13, & 20)

Also led by Erin Neve, this class offers easy lighting solutions for photography. She’ll show you how to capture food, people, and more. By the end of the course, you’ll know how to create your own lighting studio from basic materials. You’ll need your camera, a notebook, and a hard drive.

Photographer’s Sketchbook (April 8, 15, 22, & 29)

Photographer’s Sketchbook is one of the center’s most popular courses. It’s back by demand! You’ll see the sketchbooks of other artists and learn about what inspires them. Instructor Kelly Webeck will provide prompts as homework, that are meant to invite reflection and inspiration.

Bird Photography (April 25 & May 16)

Discover the art form of bird photography. You’ll learn how to capture birds in flight. By the end of class, you’ll have amazing images to hang on your walls. This session also covers the history of bird photography and its latest trends. You can enjoy these sessions on your tablet or computer.
