Learn Something at These Cooking Classes in Houston

Do you excel in the kitchen? Or maybe your cooking could use a little help?  Whichever your level of expertise, cooking classes can help you. Fortunately, Lincoln Medical Center is within 10 miles of some beloved cooking classes in Houston. These include:

Central Market

It’s rare for people to get excited about their grocery stores, but most people don’t live near Central Market. They host classes that cover everything from grilling to afternoon tea. The cooking school tailors their offerings to many people’s needs, so you’ll find classes that are designated as basics (for beginners) and hands on. The teachers mostly give demonstrations. Even more enjoyably, evening classes come with wine pairings. (They do ask that you limit yourself to what they offer in class, though.) Don’t worry if you have dietary restrictions, either, because the teachers will try to accommodate your needs if you call ahead. It’s first-come, first-served, so arrive early and dress with comfort and safety in mind.

Classes are held at the Central Market’s Houston location on Westheimer Road. Call them at (713) 993-9860 to register.

Sur La Table

Where do people go to learn how to use the great cookware they just bought? In Houston, they go to Sur La Table. First, they sell nice bakeware, and then their professional chef instructors hold classes on cooking techniques. These are hands-on, small classes, and, yes, you will get to eat big helpings of what you cooked. You can choose classes about any number of popular subjects, from basic knife skills and using a cast iron skillet to baking artisan bread.

Most classes take 2 to 2.5 hours, and they ask that you wear closed-toe shoes and tie back any long hair. You can register online for one of their classes, and you will have three class locations to choose from.
