Do you choose a restaurant based on whether they’ll let you bring your own hot sauce? Do you keep the fire department on speed dial during dinner? If so, you’re going to want to visit the 2018 Texas Hot Sauce Festival.
What’s Hot at the Festival
Now celebrating its 18th year, the Texas Hot Sauce Festival continues to be an opportunity to sample hundreds of hot and spicy products. In addition to the hot sauce, you’ll find salsa, chips, dips, peppers, spices, marinades, rubs, jams and jellies, pickled products, condiments, soup mixes, chili mixes, wing sauces, and more. If you prefer dining without the pain, there are also plenty of mild and sweet items to enjoy. Pick up the latest in pepper products and check out this year’s festival t-shirt.
The entertainment is sizzling too. There’s a wide variety of activities for all ages, retail vendors, and arts and crafts. The musicians this year include Great Scott & The Almighties, Zydeco Dots, Willie B. & The Silverbacks, and A Willie Good Blues Jam. Meanwhile, sports fans can enter the Mikey V’s Carolina Reaper Pickle Eating Competition on Sunday or just root for their favorite player.

A Few More Things
It’s September in Houston, so the weather is almost as hot as the food. Stay safe by drinking lots of water and cooling off in the VIP tents. The Festival is presented by Chili Pepper, publishers of Chili Pepper Magazine, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Snowdrop Foundation to support research and scholarships at Texas Children’s Cancer Center.
