All dog owners know how hard it can be to find dog-friendly activities close to home. Fortunately, Houston is becoming more accessible for dog lovers and their four-legged friends. There are many beautiful and unique dog parks in Houston to enjoy with options for every breed and temperament.
Here are three of the most exciting places to hang with your pup in and around the greater Houston area:
1. Bill Archer Bark Park
Boasting a sprawling 20 acres of land, Bill Archer Bark Park is one of the largest in Houston. The park has separate areas for large and small dogs, each with its own giant pond for play and exercise. Dogs can get their exercise on the many trails and open lawns or relax beneath the shady trees and pavilions. With so many options, your dog will never want to go home.
2. Millie Bush Bark Park
This park is slightly smaller, at a practically petite 13 acres, but it still packs a punch. Millie Bush Bark Park features swimming ponds, dog showers, and a walking path where your furry companion can run off leash. The park is a double-gated enclosure with separate areas for large and small dogs so your pet can stay safe in the leash-free environment.
3. Rummy’s Beach Club
This park is actually located in Spring, Texas, but it’s so unique, we had to include it. Rummy’s Beach Club is a private facility. Patrons make appointments for their dogs to enjoy the acre of land, complete with a wide open lawn and trees to investigate.
The most interesting part of this facility, however, is its swimming pool. Guests can swim with their dogs in the pool all summer long. In the winter, the pool is covered and heated so your dog can enjoy swimming throughout the year. The facility provides plenty of toys and even offers swimming and dock jumping classes.Back to all posts
